New GODSMACK Album 'The Best,' Says Vocalist
April 25, 2006Launch Radio Networks reports: GODSMACK releases its fourth album today (Tuesday, April 25),appropriately titled "IV" (Four). During the making of the CD, lead singer and chief songwriter Sully Erna was dealing with numerous personal issues, leaving the other members of the group to work on music by themselves. Erna told Launch that this ended up being a blessing in disguise. "In a nutshell, man, they wrote some amazing music," he said. "I was off doing my thing, you know, I was writing when I could write. Eventually when we brought our ideas together, we came up with the best record we've ever written. I mean, this record is so special to us. It was written differently, therefore it sounds different to any other GODSMACK record."
Erna says he spent much of 2005 fighting a lawsuit over his house, repairing his relationship with his girlfriend, cutting some "negative" people loose from his life, and either quitting or curbing his drinking and smoking. GODSMACK will perform tomorrow night (Wednesday, April 26) on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and Friday (April 28) on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
The band will begin a Canadian tour on June 10, followed by trips to Japan and Australia in July. The band doesn't plan to tour the U.S. until September, with dates expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
